“There’s two major categories of damages. They’re called ‘special damages’ and ‘general damages’. Special damages are going to be those things that you can economically put a dollar value to, I’ll say. Medical bills, loss of wages if you’ve resulted in (that) you couldn’t work, the damages to the car itself, if those haven’t been paid for. Those things that they’re actually out of pocket in order to fix. Generally speaking, those are special damages. Then, the other category is general damages. That’s what’s more understood as ‘pain and suffering’.”
